COVID-19, the word itself, brings us chills. The widespread virus still impacts the economy, and undoubtedly, it has adversely impacted the fleet and logistics industry. So, why don’t we see how our fellow influencer, Blythe Brumleve, sailed through?
Blythe Brumleve got her start in freight marketing as an executive assistant working for a large 3PL in North Florida, where she would eventually be tasked with handling the company’s digital media strategy. This is where she earned her chops as a marketer forced to do it all with a limited budget around the time when the inbound marketing concept was born. This job and a side-hustle blog earned her eventual roles with a B2B marketing agency, on-air radio talent, and TV talent.
In 2018, she launched Digital Dispatch, helping freight companies get online and grow. In addition to being a creative founder in freight, she hosts the Everything is Logisitcs podcast, is cofounder of Jax Podcasters Unite, and is a board member of the Transportation Marketing and Sales Association.
I am to be the top provider of managed website services to the logistics industry and continue to provide educational content to my audience through our podcast, Everything is Logistics.
I’m a one-person marketing team, so I think focusing on my processes was the first major step. I’ve made mistakes in the past when I purchased or hired before ironing out my processes, and that’s a mistake I won’t make again. When you iron out your processes, you can only figure out where software and people play a role.
If I got a chance to do things differently, I would start networking on Linkedin sooner. It’s been a game changer for my business.
Since I single-handedly run the marketing team, it feels wonderful to be able to connect with others in a similar role as me. The TMSA community highlights collaboration over competition, so it was very inspiring to see so many folks sharing what’s worked for them, marketing-wise, and how it could positively impact my business as well.
My success mantra is really simple – don’t compare yourself to others. Think of yourself, ten years from now, as the hero you want to evolve into.
